I love The Work of Byron Katie, so it seemed perfect to start my blog with her latest book.
Who would you be without your story?, is a collection of in depth dialogues with Byron Katie, presenting the process of dismantling the thoughts that cause suffering, in a simple yet profound way. Every painful feeling – anger, loneliness, fear – is the result of believing a thought that isn’t true. We act on these beliefs as though they were true. In her insightful and loving way, Byron Katie helps the participants to go beyond their stories, to honestly inquire and find the wisdom within. The Work is a process of inquiry using 4 questions and a turn around. Byron Katie teaches that when we argue with what is, there’s a separation, pain and confusion, and to be a lover of what is, is the end of suffering. In her mater-of-fact style she states there are 3 types of business: Your business, my business and god’s business, and asks, “Who’s business is it?”

After reading this book, I lent it to a good friend and no sooner was it back in my hands – that another friend asked to borrow it. She loved it so much she went out and bought one of Byron Katie’s earlier books. I highly recommend reading this book as the result of inquiry into truth can bring unimagined freedom and joy.
